"Default" and "Visible" options within an Active Search Result List

This KB is written to clarify the options "Default" and "Visible" when adding fields to an Active Search Result List in customization.
In addition to the Pivotal documentation is contains more detailed information on how the two options work together and how their combination results affects the fields in the Active Search Result List from the user's perspective.

Resolution
The following cases assume that a field Field_X is being added to an already existing Active Search Result List:

Case 1: Field_X is set as "Default" and "Visible"
- Field_X will be included in the Active Search Result List on the Basic tab.
- Field_X will be available to remove/add to Active Search Result List on the Personalize tab.

Case 2: Field_X is set as "Default" and NOT "Visible"
- Field_X will NOT be included in the Active Search Result List on the Basic tab.
- Field_X will NOT be available to add to Active Search Result List on the Personalize tab.

Case 3: Field_X is set as NOT "Default" and NOT "Visible"
- Field_X will NOT be included in the Active Search Result List on the Basic tab.
- Field_X will be available to add to Active Search Result List on the Personalize tab.

(Case 4: Field_X is set as NOT "Default" and "Visible" - This setting is not available to the customizer and cannot be set in Customization.)

Note that the settings will have no direct influence on whether or not a field is available on the Advance tab. The drop-down list below the Field property on the Advance tab contains every field included in the Active Search Results List and every field on the Active Form for that table.
